395 ac mitigation bank and recreation tract in Amite in Tangipahoa Parish, LA The Laurel Oak Mitigation Bank is in the New Orleans District of the Army Corps of Engineers. The bank is permitted at 387.2 acres and was approved for 256 acres of enhancement and 39.3 acres of restoration credits. Through February, 2016, 140.8 acres of enhancement credits and 29.5 acres of restoration credits have been released. An additional 51.2 acres of enhancement credits will be released after a review. Through February, 2016, 99.9 enhancement and 26.1 restoration credits have been sold for a total of approximately 1.7 million dollars. All this information can be verified at www.ribits.usace.army.mil. This will leave a potential inventory of 156.1 enhancement and 13.2 restoration credits for future sales. All site preparation and planting activities have been completed. Site maps showing all work completed are available. The tract will provide recreational and hunting use apart from the sale of mitigation credits. Its situated at the end of a dead-end road on the southwest side of Amite and along the east side of I-55. There is a creek running through the tract with good habitat for supporting deer. Approximately 8 acres and a small pond are situated on the north side of the tract and are not encumbered by the mitigation easement. There is an old home site there. Utilities are available to this 8 acres and it would be suitable for a camp site.
