Farm Description

Snowshoe Lodge is a rare find in the Bighorn Mountains. This lodge was once operated as an outfitting company and a snowmobile rental business. Previously part of the Bighorn Mountain Ranch, it has now been combined with 645 +/- acres of some of the best hunting ground in the Big Horn Mountains.

Land

High plateaus fall into thick timber known as Mountain Island. This stretch of timber with abundant food and water, provides solitude for the resident Elk herd. This valley earned its name as the timber creates a 1.7 mile island of trees. The grass has been rested for over 4 years allowing the wildlife to thrive.

Improvements

Snowshoe Lodge is located on approximately 3.5 acres directly off of the Forest Service Road allowing quick and easy access. From there, about one mile to the south is the boundary of Mountain Island. These two parcels are being offered together.

The large lodge is complimented by three guest cabins all with electricity and water. Open floor plans with all the amenities provide extra room for all of your guests.

A heated log building was built for storing snowmobiles. It also offers a heated floor with drains. In addition, a meat cooler and processing area is also located in the building.

Recreation

Snowshoe Lodge borders the National Forest and offers endless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Trails go for miles throughout the forest. In addition, this lodge includes 640 +/ acres of Deeded land known as Mountain Island. This combination provides multiple options to hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors.

As the sun sets the elk follow the tributaries and work up onto the flats to graze the native prairie. Seasonal tributaries in the valleys lead into White Creek creating lush habitat for wildlife. The mule deer herd has been allowed to age and the antelope range freely on the grassy plateaus.

For the bird hunter, sage grouse, chuckars, hungarian partridge, ruff and blue grouse can be found in high numbers. The think stands of grass combined with the timbered creek bottom offer all the protection and food sources for the numbers to thrive. The abundance of water on the upper flats and surrounding land help ensure the future success of spring hatches.

This ranch has some of the best elk hunting in the Big Horn Mountains. Herds numbering into the 1000'S are not uncommon. Satellite bulls would be once in a lifetime trophies for most, while the hunter looking for a world class bull has that opportunity as each day welcomes the rising sun.

Breathtaking views can be taken in from all directions. The sounds of nature and the absence of light at night truly offer the hard to find suclusion of the great outdoors.

Agriculture

Cattle grazing.
