Farm Description
Located in northern Montana, Black Coulee Farm encompasses 1,175 acres. Made up of both cropland and grazing land, they produce mainly wheat and barley then lease the land for grazing in the fall. A couple buildings remain on the old homestead site along with a grain bin. Along the horizon you can see Three Buttes, Little Rocky, and Bear Paw Mountains.
Recreation
Recreational opportunities on the property include waterfowl, deer, antelope, and upland birds. Spring runoff usually fills a couple reservoirs on the property and creates some wetland areas where waterfowl tend to congregate. This property also borders over 7,600 acres of BLM and about 640 acres of state land which provide additional recreational space. The nearby Milk River is a great place for fishing and about 2 hours away is Fort Peck, famous for pike, lake trout, walleye and more.
Agriculture
Cropland makes up about 837 acres while the remainder is grazing land. Currently, the farm is producing spring wheat and barley. In other years they have also planted winter wheat and oats. The property is perimeter fenced and cross fenced allowing for grazing and creating potential for extra income.
