Region & Climate New Meadows is located along the Payette River Scenic Byway where State Highway 55 and US Highway 95 converge. Its central location and access to a plethora of year-round recreational activities make New Meadows a popular destination for travelers. This could be one of the reasons this charming community is known as the heartland of Idaho. Residents partake in local annual events such as Meadows Valley Days, the Adams County Fair, and the Leroy Matthews Memorial Softball Tournament. Locals and visitors also enjoy swimming at Zims Hot Springs or golfing at Meadow Creek Golf Resort.
The resort town of McCall, Idaho is just 16 miles from the property. McCall sits along the banks of Payette Lake and is a weekend escape for many residents from the Boise metro area. It is home to Brundage Mountain, the Little Ski Hill, and the Tamarack Resort thus making it known for its winter recreation. Popular winter sports include Nordic skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, tubing, and snowboarding. One of McCall's most vibrant events is the annual Winter Carnival held every January which exhibits intricate snow sculptures throughout the community. Spectacular mountain scenery and lake views can be appreciated from downtown McCall but for a more intimate and unspoiled view, many like to visit Ponderosa State Park. This public park is just on the northern outskirts of town and offers hiking trails, camping sites, and beaches along the Payette Lake. In the summer, there is an annual Huckleberry Festival held in Donnelly, Idaho. During the festival, the Tamarack Resort hosts a two-day outdoor music festival known as the Huckleberry Jam.
