Farm Description

Bids DUE by Noon CST on May 14th, 2018. View a video of the tracts here youtu.be/OU9UQMHWgD8 The Platte River Recovery Implementation Program is holding a Sealed Bid Auction for three separate Platte River land tracts. Two of the tracts are located just southeast of Wood River, and the third is located just south of Elm Creek. All three tracts are within the Hot Zone for the Great Migration, attracting hundreds of thousands of waterfowl, including numerous species of ducks and geese. This area attracts the enormous clouds of Canada geese that inundate the area in late winter. Sandhill cranes feed on the fields in these areas in great masses. These tracts have been managed for the benefit of the species targeted by the Prrip as endangered, and in need of unspoiled wetlands. Management for any species of waterfowl benefits all area species, as well as providing protected territories for deer and turkey. These are prime recreational tracts that represent excellent mixed bag hunting opportunities, and two of the tracts have excellent grazing potential as well. Bids are due by noon on May 14th, and showings are to be held on May 2nd and May 3rd. A description of each tract is below. Tract 1715 This property consists of 114 acres of heavily wooded accretion ground on the North side of the Platte River. A large secondary channel winds through this property, providing open water for waterfowl all winter long. There are also a couple warm water sloughs that would provide open, relatively still water for ducks. The woods are home to numerous deer and wild turkey. Game trails wind throughout, there are numerous great locations for a tree stand. There are farm fields just north that provide good foraging. There is a pond with a home site on it that are within the boundaries of this Tract, but the pond and homesite are not part of the 114 acres being auctioned. This property is located about a mile south of the I-80 exit to Wood River. It enjoys excellent access from the paved Highway 40D. Opportunity to inspect the property is Wednesday May 2, 2018 from 1 30 p.m. to 4 30 p.m. Click on Link Below for Bid Instructions and Bid Form. Bids are to be sent directly to the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program. Tract 1716 This property consists of 461.84 acres, with accretion on the north side, and excellent grazing grasses occupying the lower approximate 340 acres. The northern border is the center of a secondary channel of the Platte River. Many smaller threads and sloughs wind through the property. This property, with it's high quality grasses, would provide some income to offset the cost of ownership if leased for grazing. Or, you can let it grow tall and thick and become a nice bed-down area and nursery for the fawns. There are a lot of options for this property. This property enjoys excellent access from three sides. Shoemaker road is the south border. Access on the west side is via road S. 90th rd. Opportunity to inspect the property is Wednesday May 2, 2018 from 1 30 p.m. to 4 30 p.m. Click on the link below for Bid Instructions and Bid Form. Bids are to be sent directly to the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program. Tract 1717 This property consists of 180 acres of grassland and sloughs, dotted with a few trees and cedar pockets for cover. The property has enough high quality, sub-irrigated grasses on it that it would make a great summer pasture while still being a refuge to the wildlife. Deer and Turkey are prolific throughout the area, and there are numerous game trails well worn enough to be clearly visible from 175 feet in the air. The sparkling slough winds the length of the property, clearly wide and deep enough to be open and flowing year round, providing a great place for migrating ducks and geese to rest for the night. This picturesque, secluded property is perfect for a cabin, making for a private little paradise all your own. Opportunity to inspect the property is Thursday May 3, 2018 from 10 00 a.m. to 12 00 p.m. Click on the link below for Bid Instructions and Bid Form. Bids are to be sent directly to the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program.
