Farm Description

Upper Michigan Hunting / Fishing Cabin for sale. This property is located in Iron River Township, in south-western Iron County of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The parcel is located west of the city of Iron River so it is minutes away from city services. The City of Iron River has strong businesses, beautiful historic buildings, and a growing medical community. The Apple Blossom Hiking Trail, the Upper Peninsula Championship Rodeo, and the Iron County Historical Museum are all located here. A Non-Motorized (bicycle/pedestrian) Heritage Trail originates in Iron River, and ends at Pentoga Park, a 60-Acre County Park. The property has frontage along US-2 where miles of maple and pine forests make this highway incredibly beautiful, especially in the fall color season. US-2 connects old mining towns, in an area that is largely wilderness. AmVets Road, just a half mile to the west, is a memorial to veterans, and leads to the historic location of Beechwood, a small Swedish settlement. One building there, constructed in 1912, is on the National Register of Historic Places. It served as school, country store, post office and the social center of Beechwood. It is sponsored today by the local historical society, and is used for community education programs, social functions, and a meeting place for local organizations, like the AmVets Post 436. Iron County has 2,000 lakes and 900 miles of streams - Trophy fishing, Small game and deer hunting, and Boating are available in every direction. Cross-country skiing and Snowmobiling on beautifully groomed trails draw many winter enthusiasts to the area as well. There is access to thousands of acres of Ottawa National Forest along the western edge of the property for outdoor recreation opportunities during all seasons. Its 988,000 acres offer rich recreational opportunities for fishing in over 300 additional lakes stocked by the MDNR, and over 1,200 miles of Trout Streams. In addition to fishing, you can hunt and hike in these lands - The observation of wildlife and native plants is unlimited. In the fall the forests offer breathtaking views of spectacular colored foliage. There is great hunting for American black bear, Ruffed grouse (Partridge), Whitetail deer, Woodcock and Wild turkey in the area. The Iron River, a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream, is just a few steps off the property. The Cabin is composed of two sections - A 23x35 Garage is located at one end, for lots of storage of your ATVs, Snowmobiles, and Vehicles. At the other end is a 10x12 Living Area, 9x10 Dining Area, 8x13 Kitchen, 10x13 Common Area, and a 10x14 Sleeping Area. A 5x5 Indoor Bathroom has a Shower and Portable Toilet. The rooms feature Barnwood interior walls and laminate flooring. The building is heated with a Hutch Rebe free-standing wood stove, and there are electric and gas lights. Outbuildings include a large wood-storage building, a raised blind, and a Privy. Contact us for a private tour of this great recreational property.
