It is being sold at a wholesale price, about 1/3 of replacement costs.   The Operation ElkQuest has been producing 400 to 528 inch typical trophy bull elk for 20 years. ElkQuest is located in Southwest Colorado near Durango. Commercial air service is just minutes away.  Presenting an unequaled opportunity, this operation, with a lifetime of research, breeding and operational experience, is being offered with continued guidance from the Seller who is retiring. The reputation and database of ElkQuest, known for delivering an outstanding and consistent trophy experience, will also be conveyed to Buyer. With international travel becoming less and less desirable and trophy elk tags becoming more and more unavailable, the trophy elk ranch experience demand is ever increasing.   The Elk ElkQuest will be conveying its entire breeding and bull inventory +/- 150 bulls and +/- 100 cows. Through meticulous selective breeding, ElkQuest has created the number one typical antler producing elk herd in the country, besides being the only large herd in the world which is genetically CWD resistant. ElkQuest has repeatedly taken top honors at the North American Elk Breeders annual competition for typical antlers.   Equipment - Breeding and Handling facilities & a Lifetime of Experience Nothing would please the Seller more than to see his lifetime of work and experience being taken to an even higher level, but ultimately that is the new owners prerogative. Over the years the ElkQuest owners have developed cutting edge practices for breeding, raising and handling this unique herd. All equipment, breeding facilities, fencing, custom elk trailers and feeders are being offered. The Seller will make available for consultation the knowledge and experience to transition the new owner into all aspects of the operation for up to two years following the sale.   The Elk Herd and Breeding History ElkQuest has spent 20 years researching and developing the only substantial CWD resistant elk herd in existence in the world (see attachments). This breeder has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars promoting the specific genotype, which is known to provide CWD resistance.  Only about 1 to 3% of wild elk have the genetic makeup which makes them highly resistant. This is widely accepted among researchers and veterinarians and confirmed by research papers and testimonials. ElkQuest’s selective breeding has also focused on typical antlers. The bulls have massive racks with long tines and main beams, with great width. The mature bulls have very symmetrical antlers scoring between 400 - 528 inches. These large typical racks, which are very highly desired by hunters, are much more difficult to produce than non-typical racks making ElkQuest the go to place for hunters.
