While this ranch qualifies for landowner deer tags (+/- 3 to 4 per year), it is also located in a unit that has allowed for 100% drawings for mule deer & antelope without preference points (check regulations).    You'll spook antelope on the way to the homestead dwellings and spring, bump record-book mule deer (200” deer documented) from the canyon rims, and limit out on doves on any of the numerous waterholes. But be careful as September 1 is opening day for rifle elk season.  Enjoy the most liberal elk seasons in the country (September through January 31).   Coveys of blue quail run the grasslands and peregrine falcons nest in the canyons.    Fully fenced, with water holes, springs and even a pocket of aspens, the ranch character is varied with an easy altitude in the 4000 - 5000 range. The Homestead Ranch's historic use has been for hunting mule deer, antelope and elk and limited cattle production.
