and trophy elk ranches in the southwest. Rancho Landavazo is situated in the cool highlands

of western New Mexico where the soils, grasses

The treed canyons and grassy meadows provide prime

habitat for the resident trophy elk, mule deer,

antelope and wild turkey. The large block of private lands

hunting opportunities. The owners have recently drilled a new highly producing well to supplement and fill 2 stock tanks and irrigate a newly planted feed plot. LOCATION AND ACCESS:

The ranch is situated between Quemado and Gallup, 7 miles north of Fence Lake in Cibola

County, New Mexico

The ranch is easily accessed off of its paved frontage on Highway 36. Entrance into the ranch is locked and gated.

Elevations within Rancho Landavazo range

from 7,000 to 7,300 feet above sea level. At this

elevation the winters are mild with average daytime

highs in the 50’s while the summer spring

and fall seasons bring ideal weather for ranching

operations. Winter snowfalls are light, normally

limited to two or three inches per storm event.

The summer months of July and August usher

in the seasonal monsoon rains, which nurture the growth of the ranch’s native range grasses and mountain wildflowers.

TOPOGRAPHY:

The ranch’s topography is characterized by sloping to rolling plateaus, mesas and alluvial fans interspersed with well defined washes, arroyos, and

small canyons. Mature stands of Rocky Mountain

Juniper, Pinon Pine and scattered Ponderosa Pines blend ideally with the

ranch’s sweeping pastures. Deep soft sandy loam

soils cover the entire ranch.

The range grass and browse species diversity is

high and the plant community is extremely stable

and well adapted to western New Mexico’s climatic

conditions. This is a sustainable plant community

in terms of location, soil stability watershed function

and biologic quality. The major grasses include

various gramas, galleta, muhly, three-awns, ricegrass,

needle-and-thread, and squirrel tail. Browse

species include four-wing saltbush, winterfat and

various sages.

PLATTED RANCHETTES

Twenty four individual parcels have been platted and readied for sale at the ranch's paved entrance off of highway 36. Parcel sizes range from 10 to 37 acres. Parcels with the paved road frontage have power service. The remaining parcels are but a short extension away. All parcel corners have been monumented and road access has been provided to each. These twenty four ready to sell homesites add to the ranch's investment potential by providing the ability to generated income from their direct sales to the public.

HUNTING

The scenic canyons, rolling hills and grasslands

of Rancho Landavazo support large

healthy herds of elk, antelope and mule

deer each of which are resident throughout the

year within its sprawling 4,353 acres. Other

game species include mountain lion, black bear,

scaled quail and dove. The ranch’s ruggedly beautiful canyons and meadowlands consistently

produce trophy big game.



The ranch has historically participated

in the big game landowner hunting permit

program administered through the New Mexico

Department of Game & Fish. Landowner

hunting tags historically issued for the ranch

include rifle, muzzleloader, and archery. There are currently (6) rifle bull elk tags, (4) archery bull elk tags and (2) rifle cow tag assigned to the ranch.
